Heavy Lift Survey - Nicaragua

The shipping process took place during high temperatures around 35°C from Corinto to Managua (Nicaragua). All engines were jacked up and loaded by means of hydraulic cylinders onto 20-axle line modular trailers In the port of Corinto. Each convoy going via the Pan-American highway had an average journey duration of 8 days. Due to the unknown and partly bad condition of the bridges, several flyover with spans up to 23m were in use. Furthermore, certain bridges were mechanically reinforced (Poles, stiffners, load distributors etc.) to increase the load capacity. This was a big advantage in order to minimize the traffic impact on the main road through Nicaragua.

Beside the survey operation for the insurance we were working for the cargo manufactorer as well. In that case our job was to document the condition of the infrastructure and accompany the monitoring process of the bridges.
